Eugster + Huber – specialized in Organdy.
From cotton to a shiny and transparent dream-fabric
The manufacturing of Organdy requires a special technique to ennoble the fabric. The so called Batist is the basis for creating an Organdy fabric. Batist is a tightly woven, fine threaded fabric that is produced in linen weaving. That means that every single thread, required for the producing of Batist, will be woven in a particular pattern. The pattern of linen weaving is characterized by a high scrub- and slip-resistance. This attribute is reflected in Organdy fabrics as well.
In comparison to the basic fabric Batist, Organdy shows some more attributes such as:
- higher consistency
- higher wash resistance
These attributes of fabrics are often accomplished by an extensive procedure using acid. When treated with concentrated acid, Batist turns into a transparent and opalescent fabric – the Organdy. This procedure leads to a stiffening of every single texture yarn. Our Organdy is washable at 40 degrees and can be ironed afterwards so that the characteristic stiffness will persist even after washing.
The different Organdy types
Organdy can be ennobled in different ways. There are two different types of Organdy in our collection: Organdy Jacquard and Organdy burnout. Organdy Jacquard is woven with a special Flamé yarn. Organdy burnout is treated with an extra developed paste so that it will receive the exact design like it would have been printed. There are no limits for creativity!
Application range of Organdy
Whether elegant blouses, wedding dresses or imaginative shirt creations: Organdy is mostly the first chosen fabric! Especially classic- or vanguard-oriented fashion designers chose the multifaceted and breezy Organdy fabric for their collections. Organdy is also very suitable and in vogue for christening robes and communion dresses.
